The Safest Place for your Money

Where are you keeping your treasures? πŸ‘‘
Do you find yourself worrying over your money and resources? πŸ€”
Where should we place our financial security? πŸ”

The Safest Place for your Money
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.”
Matthew 6:19

πŸ“ŠOne of my roles as a business coach and Biblical Entrepreneurship instructor is to assist kingdom business stewards generate a profit through their businesses while remaining true to their core convictions. As important as that is, it is equally important to know where to safeguard that profit without compromising those convictions. It does not make sense to work hard and generate a profit just to lose it through market failure or the dishonesty and greed of men.

πŸ“šIn today's uncertain market environment with low return on Wall Street and corporate corruption, finding a safe place to preserve profit is not easy. I had the privilege of serving as the Chaplain of the NACFC, a national organization whose mission is to provide educational resources, fellowship support, and biblical standards for professional investment counselors who seek to integrate Bible-based principles within their financial counseling practices. πŸ—£οΈ I also serve as a trustee for the Timothy Plan, the nation's leading biblical responsible family of mutual funds. In these roles and in serving as a business coach for a number of companies in the financial services arena, I'm always in the midst of discussions about identifying the best ways to assist individuals, especially Christians, preserve and grow the resources God has entrusted them with.

πŸ’―It is interesting that although we try very hard to ensure that individual's money is invested in companies that are consistent with Christian values while providing the best return possible, we still have not found one investment anywhere on earth that is both consistent with Christian values and totally safe from the possibility of loss and diminishing returns. Jesus, however, in Matthew 6:19-21, gives us insight on a place where we can put our treasure to ensure total safety.

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal" Matthew 6:19-20. β›…

Jesus warns us against putting our treasures anywhere in the earth realm. This is because no matter where on earth we put our treasure it cannot be safeguarded against market instability (moth and rust) or the greed and dishonesty of men (thieves). πŸ™…‍♂️ The question is, if we cannot preserve treasures anywhere on earth then where should we? Jesus instructs us to preserve our treasures in heaven. You see, in heaven there is no corruption, lying and cheating. There is no recession and market failure. In heaven your treasures will not only be safe from loss but they will yield the highest return possible. πŸ’ͺ

My prayer for you today is that God will give you the grace to be satisfied with Him alone and that you will appreciate His many blessings.πŸ™
