Turning the World Upside Down
Are you living your life to make a difference? Are you challenging the status quo? Is
your business transformative?
Let's explore this topic together in today's devotional:
"But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, 'These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.'" -- Acts 17:6
Are you living your life to make a difference? Are you challenging the status quo? Is your business transformative? The declaration of Jesus as King upset a lot of people and threatened the established world order of political power, religious power, and economics. Entrepreneurs whose businesses depended on the current belief saw their businesses at risk, and leaders who depended on the acceptable worldview felt threatened. To this, these threatened leaders declared, “these men have turned the world upside down.” They saw that followers of Jesus were changing their way of life and threatening their security. Jesus followers did and taught things that demanded a decision to either change or become obsolete.
What are you doing to turn the world upside down? Is your business a reflection of the status quo or are you challenging the way business is done? What innovative or transformative approach have you brought to the industry? If you go out of business tomorrow, would anyone care or notice?
Kingdom companies by their very nature are transformative and innovative. They turn the world upside down. They take traditional business models and bring an uncommon approach to them. They bring unique thinking to everything they do. They challenge the status quo, bring forth innovative ideas, expand economies, increase wealth expansion, put to death old and tired ideas and spark a movement of creative power. They turn industries upside down for the Glory of the Creator.
What made the disciples different, and what makes entrepreneurs who are building kingdom companies different? What is it about them that enables them to turn the world upside-down?
- They are fearless.
- They ask the why questions.
- They do not take no for an answer.
- They have firm convictions.
- They reject the status quo.
- They are unsatisfied with mediocracy, ok or good -- they want great.
- They are risk takers.
Consider where you are in your personal life journey or business. Determine in what ways you can begin or enhance your ability to be transformative so that one day on your tombstone they can say that you truly turned the world upside down. Remember that this does come with a price -- the early disciples were put in prison, beat up and chased out of cities because of the peoples resistance to change. You will no doubt face resistance from investors, the industry and even the marketplace, but remember that with an uncommon approach, comes an uncommon grace to realize it.
Reflection: Are you using your God transformative abilities to make a difference?
