Ambassadors For Christ

Dear ,

Are you an ambassador for Christ?

What are the qualifications for the job?
How are you promoting the benefits of following Christ in all that you do, including in the way that you run your business?

Let's explore this topic together in today's devotional:

Ambassadors For Christ

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. – 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NKJV)

Ambassadors are appointed and accredited diplomats. They are sent by their home nation as its official representative to a foreign nation. Ambassadors have a specific mission from their government that they must carry out while on assignment. They enjoy certain privileges that are unique to their position. Biblical Entrepreneurs are God’s ambassadors to the marketplace, within their field of industry and influence.

As ambassadors for Christ, we have the privilege and responsibility to be a witness for Jesus, and by reconciling others to Him. We must always be mindful that others are watching us, and that based on how we conduct ourselves, they may be brought closer to the LORD, or pushed further away from Him.

Furthermore, the way that we run our businesses must exemplify the excellence and integrity of Christ, setting an example for others to follow.

As ambassadors for Christ, here are some things to keep in mind:

  • Go the extra mile with your customers, serving them as though you are serving Christ Himself. (Ephesians 6:7)

  • Serve your employees, "washing their feet" just as Jesus washed His disciples’ feet. (John 13:1-17)

  • Think of yourself as the steward of God’s business, and not as the owner, recognizing that it is God who has made you a temporary caretaker of His business. (Psalm 24:1; Hebrews 3:4)

  • Pay your vendors on time and, when it is not possible, communicate with them accordingly. Recognizing that this will speak the loudest about who you are in Christ. (Romans 13:7-8)

  • Go out of your way and interact with non-believers. How will you reconcile others to him if you are not interacting with them?
    (Matthew 5:13-16)

  • Contribute at least 10% of your net profit to Kingdom work. Business tithing demonstrates the Lordship of Christ over your business.
    (Genesis 4:19-20; Luke 6:38)

  • In all things, give God thanks. Whether business is good or bad, always thank God for who He is and for entrusting you with the assignment. This will keep you focused on Him versus your problems and will give you a grateful spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

As you seek to carry out your responsibilities as an ambassador, walk with complete confidence in Christ and assurance knowing that ambassadors enjoy certain privileges. As an ambassador for Christ, your privileges are:

  • Diplomatic immunity – you operate based on heavenly authority, based on grace and not works, and a higher authority than the laws of earth. (Ephesians 2:6-7)

  • Security – you are protected by the blood of Jesus Christ and angels. (Psalm 91:11-12 ; Hebrews 12:24)

  • Direct secure communication to the government – you have direct access to your Commander in Chief, Jesus Christ, through prayer. (Philippians 4:6-7)

  • Provision – as long as you remain Kingdom-minded, everything you need is provided. (Matthew 6:33-34)

Mr. or Ms. Ambassador, his or her excellence, my prayer for you is that the LORD will be with you this week as you seek to represent Him as His ambassador within your field of industry and influence, by exemplifying His excellence, and reconciling others to Him.
