Wait Upon the Lord
Are you good at waiting?
Or do you get impatient quickly and rush into things?
Are you rushing when you should be waiting?
“But those that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
✝️ Before the days of electronic surveillance, speeding tickets meant being delayed an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour because of the time it took the police officer to fill out the necessary paperwork. For those of us who have experienced being pulled over for speeding, it always seems as though they were in no hurry to release you to get to your destination on time. While you may have been in a hurry to get somewhere, your disregard for the speed limit made you get to your destination even later (not to mention money and points off your driver’s license as well). Speed is not always the fastest way to get to your destination.📯
Sometimes waiting gets us there faster. Waiting is not exactly a common characteristic among entrepreneurs, especially those who are experiencing a new level of financial success. There is a common saying in the marketplace that “time is money,” so we end up being hurried in everything we do.
📯Actually, there is no promise in scripture for those who hurry. Speed and hurriedness breed a lack of patience and discontentment. Why are you rushing? What is the urgency? What will happen if things do not happen when you want them to? Many times we are in a hurry going nowhere; persuaded of its empty promises. Waiting is a virtue.
Waiting has clear rewards: it breeds patience, contentment, and sure character. What does it mean to wait on the Lord? It means to recognize your limitations. To distinguish between your pace and God’s pace, and then to line up with God’s pace no matter the circumstances. Waiting on the Lord means to completely surrender to God’s will for your life in every situation that you encounter. This is an unconditional commitment not to compromise God’s principles to achieve your objectives.
📯Waiting on the Lord is refusing to accomplish things at whatever cost, but rather depending solely on God for everything you accomplish. It is enduring and persevering under pressure and resistance. Waiting is following the speed limit even though you risk being late to your meeting.
Waiting on the Lord is not easy. While you wait and time is ticking, bills are due, the competitor is gaining ground, the window of opportunity seems to be closing, and others seem to be getting ahead of you. Often it seems that while you wait, you are losing ground. However, this is merely a perception and not a reality. What happened the last time you hurried? Did you accomplish your objectives? Did you get what you wanted? Hurrying through any task can get us in trouble, but waiting has some guaranteed rewards.
📯Waiting on the Lord has four benefits:
Your strength shall be renewed – Resiliency is essential to success. Waiting creates an internal renewal of energy and spiritual virtues which gives you strength.
You shall mount up with wings like eagles – Accomplishing your objectives not only requires strength but an ability to fly over obstacles and hindrances. Waiting gives you wings.
You shall run and not be weary – Energy is another key element to success. Yes, waiting gives you the required stamina to function at the appropriate speed without being weary.
You shall walk and not faint – Clarity is another key to success. The ability to press forward without losing focus is acquired while you wait.
🔑Of course, waiting does not mean doing nothing. Rather, it means a period of growth. Waiting on the Lord is not being idle, but rather it is being proactive in the right areas. In Hebrew, the word for “wait” in Isaiah 40:31 is “qavah,” which literally means “to bind together like a cord.” Waiting means actively relying on the Lord. While you are waiting, you will grow stronger when you weave your plans into the will of God. Figuratively, “qavah” means to “wait, to hope, to expect.” You can wait with great hope and anticipation because you know that you can trust God for the outcome.💎
🎉Waiting means doing the right things even though it may not yield immediate external rewards. Waiting is focusing on the internal private victories that will create a sure foundation for future public victories. Often it seems that while we wait everyone else is moving forward and we are falling behind. Continue to wait upon the Lord, trusting in His guidance and provision in your life and your business. Your waiting will produce internal strength and supernatural energy with the right focus. Waiting is key to the success of any Kingdom Business. So go ahead, begin to slow down and wait on the Lord.
My prayer for you today is that God will give you the grace to wait on the Lord and the wisdom to know what to do while you wait.
